Frequently Asked Questions
What types of products are in your body care collection?
Our body care collection covers the full range of skin and body needs beyond cleansing. You'll find body butters, lotions, body oils, scrubs, deodorants, hand and foot creams, and body powders — all made with plant-based ingredients, natural mineral colorants where applicable, and scented with essential oils or naturally derived fragrances. Everything is formulated to nourish and support your skin rather than just sit on top of it.
What's the difference between a body butter and a lotion?
Body butters are rich, oil-based formulas made primarily from shea butter, cocoa butter, or similar plant fats — with little to no water content. They're intensely nourishing and ideal for very dry skin, elbows, knees, and feet, or for use after a bath when skin is still slightly damp. Lotions are lighter water-and-oil emulsions that absorb more quickly and feel less heavy on the skin, making them a better everyday option for normal to moderately dry skin or for use in warmer months when a heavy butter feels like too much. If you're unsure which to reach for, body butter for deep moisture, lotion for daily maintenance is a good rule of thumb.
Does your natural deodorant actually work?
It does — though it works differently than conventional antiperspirant. Our deodorant neutralizes odor-causing bacteria using naturally derived ingredients like baking soda, arrowroot powder, and essential oils, rather than blocking sweat glands with aluminum compounds. Sweating is a natural and healthy function, and our deodorant lets your body do that while keeping you fresh. Most people find it works well for everyday activity. If you're making the switch from antiperspirant, give your body a week or two to adjust as your sweat glands reopen and recalibrate.
Are your body scrubs safe for sensitive skin?
Our body scrubs use natural exfoliants like sugar, sea salt, and ground botanicals rather than synthetic microbeads or harsh abrasives. Sugar scrubs in particular are gentle enough for most sensitive skin types because sugar dissolves as you scrub, reducing the risk of micro-tears. For very sensitive or reactive skin, we recommend using a light hand, limiting exfoliation to once or twice a week, and following with a moisturizer. Check each product page for specific skin type guidance.
When is the best time to apply body butter or lotion?
Right after a shower or bath is the most effective time to moisturize. Applying while your skin is still slightly damp helps lock in hydration because the moisturizer seals water into the skin rather than just sitting on a dry surface. Pat dry with a towel, leaving a little moisture on your skin, then apply your body butter or lotion immediately. This simple habit makes a noticeable difference in how well any moisturizer performs, natural or otherwise.
