Many of you have noticed our HSCG Member logo on our retail store windows, or maybe you've noticed the badge we proudly display at the bottom of our website, but some of you aren't sure what it means. Sure, it sounds impressive but what exactly is it?
The HSCG stands for the Handcrafted Soap and Cosmetic Guild. The HSCG is the only international non-profit trade association serving the handcrafted soap and cosmetic industry. Perfectly Natural Soap is celebrating 6 years as a member of this wonderful organization in 2019!
One reason we enjoy membership in the guild is continuing education. The HSCG has a certification program for members to encourage and promote the highest professional standards among its members. The Certification Program presents criteria by which members can measure their soapmaking knowledge and skill as well as creates a centralized repository for industry-standard information and resources. I'm Shaen, our owner and product formulator. Because Perfectly Natural Soap strives to ensure the products you are buying from us are the best, safest and most reliable, I am a Certified Advanced Level Soapmaker and a Certified Cosmetic Maker via the HSCG's certification program.
The Mission of the HSCG
The mission of the organization is four-fold, addressing all the different parts that make up the industry as a whole. When combined, the individual aspects of our mission combine into a comprehensive plan to serve all the stakeholders of the handcrafted soap and cosmetic industry.
- To promote and educate the public about the handcrafted soap and cosmetic industry.
- To act as a center of communication among, and to circulate information beneficial to, members of the handcrafted soap and cosmetic industry.
- To foster the handcrafted soap and cosmetic industry through education and training.
- To represent the handcrafted soap and cosmetic industry in matters concerning legislation and regulations affecting the industry.
